Into the Fire

I think we’ll start with the romance today. This is primarily the “for women” category, but the novels I’m suggesting aren’t all “category” romance. Some of them probably overlap with “women’s fiction” which is better defined by someone other than me.

Secrets, Unforgotten, Echoes (a three book series), A Rush of Wings, The Still of Night (the sequel) by Kristen Heitzmann (These novels are far more than just romance. The characters in these stories are real, passionate, unique, and desirable. Absolutely worthwhile romance novels yet so much more.)

Blue Heart Blessed by Susan Meissner (This is a novel you give to readers who adore romance. It’s a quick and joyful read full of humor, insight, and Susan’s fabulous writing.)

One Tuesday Morning, Beyond Tuesday Morning (the sequel) by Karen Kingsbury (One can hardly discuss romance novels without mentioning Karen Kingsbury. These two older books are my favorites from the many of hers that I’ve read. Touching stories filled with sorrow and hope.)

Let’s move on to mystery/suspense.

Eyes of Elisha, Dread Champion (the sequel), Brink of Death, Dead of Night (the sequel), dark pursuit by Brandilyn Collins (Brandilyn has written many more novels, but these are my favorites, especially Eyes of Elisha and Dread Champion which add a stunning supernatural element that works so well in these stories. dark pursuit is her latest and is very entertaining [I’ll review it here tomorrow]. Her writing style has evolved, and the newer novels are shorter.)

Steal Away by Linda Hall (This is a moody mystery with an interesting cast of characters and a great twist.)

Out of the Shadows, Crown of Thorns (the sequel) by Sigmund Brouwer (I almost put these in the upcoming “literary” group because Sigmund’s writing qualifies, but these Southern mysteries about family secrets keep the reader guessing right up until the final resolutions.)
