Into the Fire

I received an email the other day from Jay Sekulow and the American Center for Law and Justice listing and describing my (anyone’s) legal rights concerning Christmas. My Lord! In the United States of America it has finally come to this. You may or may not know in my state of Washington, there’s a big fiasco about the Nativity scene in the capitol building. Someone put up a sign next to it that claimed there are no “gods”, “angels” or “demons” and a bunch of other atheistic hoopla. Then the sign was stolen and turned up at a local radio station. Now all the garbage and publicity about the “separation of church and state”, which any intelligent history buff knows is not in the constitution, has captured the fickle attention of the newsmakers.

An acquaintance of mine once said “Bless you” to a fellow coworker when she sneezed. The sneezing lady reamed her for saying it, reminding her that she shouldn’t be speaking “religious” expressions on the job. She works at an outlet for a local university.

God in heaven, please forgive us for our ugly foolishness. How can people ignore your beauty and forgiveness? It makes me so sad when I’m not mad. Forgive me for my sometimes hateful thoughts and help me to love as you love. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
