Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Hardbound, soft cover, ebooks, and supermarket paperbacks. We read them all. Just call us Book Lovers Anonymous. Thick and thin. Long or short. We're searching for the next best book.

Action, literary, romance, love story, mystery, suspense, or fantasy, we all have our favorites. Some of us are rigid in what we prefer. Others of us will read anything with words.

What is your preference? Where is your favorite place to read? And why is reading so important to you?

Father, always thank you. Always. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I don’t have a favorite place to read. I know a lot of people read in bed but that doesn’t work for me. Within 3 minutes I’m out so I can’t lay in bed and read. When I actually have a chance to use my recliner, I like to read there. Otherwise, it’s my Kindle on the run when/wherever I can find time.
I’m assuming I must’ve begun reading for the “take me away from here to another adventure” reason, but I also learned things from books at a young age. Like using the encyclopedia to learn how to saddle and ride a horse. I wore the “H” encyclopedia out flipping to the horse section constantly. LOL!

Similarly, outside of school books, I grew up on and cherished The Black Stallion books, and any books to do with horses. City girl born, I wanted so badly to be a country girl with horses, horses, horses. I guess that’s why after reluctantly trying college, taking a 3-month trip to Europe chasing after a British movie star, returning for one class at the U, my dad helped me find a way to Longacres Racetrack (something I’m sure he later regretted) where my dreams of being around horses came true.
I don’t know why I like to read in the bedroom, but it ends up being not so great for my back. My favorite place is out in the summer sun, but like you, I take a book or my Kindle anywhere there’s wait time promised.

I prefer to read paperback, and I’ll read anywhere! But, if I could read on the porch of a cabin on Lake Superior, that would be as good as it gets. 😉

I loved reading from the moment I learned how! I read every little book on the shelves in my first grade classroom, so Mrs. Martin allowed me to check out books from the other first grade classroom. I loved the interesting lives of the children in those stories! I’ll read anywhere as long as the chair is comfortable. I used to enjoy reading in bed, but it’s too hard on my neck and back now. Since I live where it’s cold most of the year, I’ve come to enjoy a hot drink while I read. I love being able to enlarge the font in my Nook. But I also enjoy sharing paperbacks with my daughter-in-law.

Reading fiction is a special treasure, and I can usually read anywhere except I’m easily distracted in waiting rooms or where specific “word” noise is going on.
Love the idea of that cabin, Bren.
Paperbacks, soft covers preferred, e-readers, whatever, it’s great to hold a book and read a novel.
