Into the Fire

Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

      Th

I'm late this Friday, but here are five unusual things I love.

The lighter woods such as pine (knotty and otherwise), oak, ash

Almost all kinds of Seahawks paraphernalia

Sunglasses

Certain movie posters – okay, mostly older Johnny Depp movie posters

Many, many kinds of architecture

You?

Father, you give us so many beautiful things to fill our lives. They often compensate for all the evil that can surround us. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

    ancient history
brown grass (I enjoyed the summer months when we lived in California and the hills turned brown)
getting rid of stuff (LOVE it!)
words (to the degree that I can’t NOT read a road sign)
going to bed by 9 pm (I may or may not get up early the following morning)

Brown grass? That’s hilarious, Deb. We’ve had that pretty much all of this rare hot summer. Getting rid of stuff is a good feeling, but it’s hard for me – especially “paper” stuff like old cards, spiritual papers, the Limbaugh Letter. Books have become easier to unload if I didn’t like them. Generally, I go to bed early but am up early too. You’re funny. 😉

Yeah, my mom thought it was funny when I wrote saying, “It’s so pretty here. The hills are brown.” I’m with you on sunglasses and architecture. I could add that I like skirts and dresses. Most – maybe all – of my friends prefer slacks.

While I’m not coming up with a list of unusuals, I do like getting rid of stuff. I HATE any kind of clutter, or even “too busy” websites or webpages for that matter.
Among writers, I doubt having a spiral notebook fettish counts as unusual. I went bonkers last summer at the back-to-school sale and probably have enough spiral notebooks for 2-3 years of school. LOL!

I totally get the spiral notebook thing, Brenda, but I tend to buy POTC peechees, spiral notebooks, or Seahawks school supplies. Geez. Then I just keep them and don’t use them so they don’t wear out! Crazy. I’m not fond of clutter either, but as of late my house is full of it. Driving me a little crazy – er.
I used to love skirts and dresses when I was younger, Deb. And high heels. Now I live in Levis or occasionally a pair of slacks. Still love boots in the winter.
