Such a heart-breaking game! I think all Vikings fans were stunned–but not surprised. My heart goes out to our kicker, Blair Walsh. The Vikings have a gift for knowing how to lose, but I’ll be back rooting for them next year. 🙂

It was indeed a heartbreaking loss. We’ve had some of those. Blair Walsh is one of the best kickers in the NFL (and from the UW). I felt badly for him, but apparently in pre-game warm-ups he was having difficulty at that end of the stadium for some unknown reason. He’s a good person and a great kicker. I felt doubly bad for him when the coach threw him under the bus. The Vikings came a long way this year. Teddy Bridgewater captured a familiar sentiment after the game saying this team might not be together again because of the structure of the NFL – which makes it doubly hard to lose such an important game. They look bright for the future which is not much consolation after a loss, believe me, I know.

Yep, it’s hard, but it’s still just football. I hate to see how horrid supposed fans are when someone makes a mistake for the world to see (like Steve Harvey or Vikings former kicker Gary Anderson who missed one kick–One! that includes FGs & PATs–in 1998, the kick that would have sent them to the Super Bowl). People tend to show their true selves when their teams mess up. But then, a lot of people have also stood up to support Walsh too.
On a side note, it wasn’t just Walsh’s mistake. It was Peterson’s fumble, & our defense’s sloppy coverage during Seattle’s bad snap. A change in any of those would have changed the outcome of the game.
Now, it’s on to baseball for me!
