Friday Five

                     I%20Get%20the%20Point

Everybody has personal quirks. Here are five of mine.

I will go switch lights on and off to make sure the dual switch plates are in order (making sure they're both facing up or down).

I will go around tucking chairs into tables. 

I will not drink any other kind of cola. Only Coca Cola. 

I have several sunglasses and am always tempted to buy more, but I usually only wear a couple of them.

I can cry over most anything – and do. Frequently.

 

Lord, it's a relief to know you love me anyway. Thank you for rescuing me. I'm desperate for you always. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

    Hmmm….the trick in responding to this post is how to narrow down the list of quirks. LOL!!!!!!!!
    You mentioned one I hadn’t heard before–meticulously switching off the lights is a common one (that I share) but I’d never thought about it from the standpoint of the switches being all in the same direction.
    1. Re-checking every time I make a purchase to be sure I put my wallet/card back in it’s slot in my fanny pack. Also a re-check about where I placed my keys.
    2. Have to have fresh socks every time I switch activities (ie. if I’ve been wearing shoes and socks all day at the computer, if I go to the gym, I need to put on fresh socks–happy feet, happy life).
    3. Must have a LOT of silence–far more than most people.
    4. Compulsive list maker
    5. Refuse to accept a DQ Chocolate Extreme Blizzard made with vanilla ice cream (some folks just don’t get it–even big corporate big wigs!)

    Ah, it’s fun to see what others consider their quirks. #s 1 and 2 are good ideas. I enjoy silence too. I should make more lists. #5 is hilarious – but good for you.

    Some of mine have come as a result of living where the winters are so long, so I’ll start with those…
    1. Hot foods must be hot – not room temperature. Not long after we moved here, I moved the plates from the cabinets on the outside wall to the cabinets on the inside wall to help this. And don’t anybody go and leave the pizza boxes open if we’ve ordered pizza for a crowd!
    2. If I’m in my easy chair, I need a blanket on my lap. It’s downright necessary so many months of the year that it feels strange without it.
    3. I only turn on the air conditioner if it’s so humid I just can’t bear it. After a long winter of being unable to enjoy the windows open, I feel like I’m in an aquarium if the windows are closed in the summer.
    These last 2 I’ve had as long as I can remember.
    4. If a can or bottle of soda comes out of the fridge, I prefer to drink it that way rather than pour it into a glass and add ice.
    5. If it takes 30 minutes or less to get some place that starts at a certain time, I like to leave 30 minutes before it starts. If it takes more than 30 minutes, I like to leave an hour before it starts. Otherwise I feel like I’m going to be late.

    I get the hot foods thing, but my guys just befuddle me. By the time they get to their plates, their food has got to be lukewarm at best. :/ Habitual lap blanket, huh? We have some humidity but nothing like yours. We survive on fans. We have one window air conditioner that our son used in his upstairs bedroom at our other home – and he needed it in the hot weather. We could use it, but we don’t. Yeah, I prefer my drinks on ice. I’m with you on not wanting to arrive late. I’ll leave way early too and sit in the car and read if I’m too early. Better than being late. Thanks, Deb!

    Where we live really does make a difference, Debra. I’m the opposite. I want my cold drinks ice cold–as much ice as I can cram in the cup. LOL!

    Yes, it does! It’s great to live in a time and place where we have central heat and air, refrigerators and microwaves.
