Passionate thoughts about the world of writing and the Power of God

Five things that make me smile (in no particular order):

Mt. Rainier (aka "The Chief") summer, fall, winter, spring. Looking at it and the foothills from our kitchen and living room windows shows off God's magnificent glory in His creation.

Christmas always. I don't care if the lights and decorations come up before Thanksgiving. I love it. Not the silly stuff or the Santa stuff, but the "Jesus is the reason for the season" stuff and the beauty that is Christmas.

Driving early in the morning before dawn when there's no traffic and it's quiet. Not too many places where it's still like this, but it's peaceful when it is.

Buying gifts. Oh how I love buying presents for people. I tend to overdo it, but, much like my dad, giving is my thing.

My beautiful dog. He's over-sensitive, loving, fierce to strangers and super protective of me, hilarious with some of his expressions, and just an amazing German Shepherd. Love him to the moon and back.

Father, it's a wonderful thing when you put a smile on my face. Love that feeling that precedes a smile. You are the ultimate giver of good and perfect gifts. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

That’s a great list Nicole. Here are 5 of mine:
When my husband laughs at a comic he’s read
Toddlers. They are fascinated by everything.
The view of the woods from the back of our house
The look on my pastor’s face when our congregation sings In Christ Alone by the Getty’s
    My baby grand piano

Love your 1 and 3 especially.
    Mine–
    Being surrounded by mountains
I echo your sentiment for an early morning (around here it has to be very early morning) drives–for me out into the untouched desert.
    Watching Bob Ross paint
Labrador Retrievers—whether just seeing a picture or seeing them in person.
Stretches of time where I can live in solitude to create and contemplate.

I’m blessed to spend many daytimes in solitude – at least several hours (with my dog). I know how precious time alone is, but I love the time when my guys come home from work or their days off with them.
I wonder if “your” Bob Ross is the same man who makes saddles. We had two exercise saddles made by a Bob Ross for our Thoroughbreds. I think we kept one.
    Labs are great dogs.
Thanks, Brenda, for sharing your smiles.
