We welcome the new year with all kinds of celebrations, observations, meditations, reflections. Some of us have lost loved ones while some of us have welcomed new lives into this fallen world. The gamut of emotional, physical, and spiritual experiences have accompanied most of us along the way. Some will say "Good riddance!" to 2017 while others hope its successes will carry over into 2018.
Whatever your take on the arrival of this new year, I hope at some point you will consider the ever poignant and critical importance of knowing the Savior of the world. This "place" is overrun with sin and its inescapable draw. Without Jesus Christ it's the place where we live a life of death and dying without realizing it. No reward awaits those without a Savior. We're all desperate for the One who created us and longs to save us from the end results of sin. Desperate whether we know we are or not.
So for truly new life and new hope in this new year, ponder the possibility of surrendering to Jesus. Nothing is as meaningful in this life as preparing for our eternal lives. Jesus waits for you.
Thank you, Lord, for your patience, benevolence, love, kindness, and yearning after us. We don't deserve it, but you make us worthy. Thank you is never enough. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
