Into the Fire

One of my very favorite authors who isn’t writing much in the novel category in recent years but has written some spectacular “speculative” fiction and one terrific 6-book series for youth is Robert Liparulo. (This site I linked to will show you his books but personal information is not up-to-date.)

I met Robert many years ago after several email conversations about writing. At the time, I’d read his first novel Comes A Horseman (which, as much as I love all of his work, is still my favorite.) After reading his first, I read everything he published including his “Dreamhouse Kings Series” for Young Adults. Besides being an amazing author, he’s a truly great person who has overcome some hard things.

I believe he’s engaged in the film world of late, but I haven’t spoken to him for some time.

I can’t recommend his work highly enough – especially if you love Speculative Fiction when it’s done perfectly so it doesn’t “feel” speculative – it feels real!

Father, you know exactly where Robert is and what he’s doing. Please lead, guide, and protect him as he uses the multiple talents you’ve given him. Please bless him abundantly in ways he never sees coming. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
