Into the Fire

Those of you who know me have heard me say – or write – “I write what I want to read.” My genre is the love story heavy on the romance. So. “What I want to read” is generally not found in the romance genre in secular/general market fiction due to obnoxious graphics of literary porn and language. Surprisingly, it isn’t always present in Christian Fiction either.

I want to read REAL. The catchy phrase (in some opinions) used for much of contemporary Christian Romance is “clean fiction.” Well, we all can testify that “the world” is not “clean.” And portraying the world in its genuine form with messy characters who have yet to experience the truth of Jesus is an absolute must for me. That’s real. Write the contrast. Those who know Him and those who don’t.

Having laid the groundwork for one of the few of my favorite authors of romance in Christian Fiction is Becky Wade. She’s written many very good series with fascinating characters in a vast array of different circumstances and occupations, unique personalities, and all-around good stories. And she does romance well with sizzle and spark sans graphics.

My favorite of Becky’s novels is still her first one, a rare stand-alone, although I love so many of her novels. My Stubborn Heart hooked me from the start and gave me the desire to keep reading whatever Becky wrote. If you’re a lover of romance novels, I’m confident you’ll enjoy Becky’s books.
