Into the Fire

If you read my previous post on editors (The Hardest Job in the World [of Literature]), you know how I feel about them. Fearful, leery, and respectful pretty much sum it up. However, beings as they’re people first and Christian brothers and sisters, I thought it would be good to know how they felt about certain subjects.

Tomorrow (Tuesday), Mick Silva (Waterbrook [Multnomah/Random House] Acquistions Editor) will join us with his thoughtful answers to some questions I posed to him. For all you writers, published and unpublished alike, I know you’ll gain insight from his answers and have a few comments of your own.

I truly appreciate his willingness to contribute.

This day, heavenly Father, as our faith is challenged, our grace in you ever expanded and so needed, we ask that we can answer the skeptics with truth and wisdom, show kindness where we least desire to do so, and keep galloping, walking, trudging forward in the journey of this life ever seeking to please and bless you, no matter how hard it gets. I love you, Lord. Help us, Jesus. Holy Spirit, may we give you our ears to hear. Oh God, forgive us this day for all kinds of sin. Restore us to you. Teach us more about you and show us our weaknesses so that we can be attentive to those things that concern you. Let us take up the sword of the Spirit and be aggressive against our enemy. Help us to discern his schemes and not ignore his limited power. May we fight the good fight, press on, and give thanks even in the heat of battle. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
