Into the Fire

Destiny. Our pastor preached on it yesterday. A sound and truly anointed message.

A writer deals with destiny all the time. The characters are destined to be, do, go someone, something, somewhere. There is a beginning and an end–or an allusion to an end if a sequel follows. There are mysteries, conflicts, questions, and answers. There is ordinary and extraordinary. There is mundane and superfluous. (Or there are . . .)

When you know you are to do something, and you are engaged in it, you still face obstacles. Sometimes the greater the appointed (and/or) anointed task, the deeper the opposition you face. It can get you down.

We can all attest to the beauty and horror of Jesus Christ’s destiny. Born to die. For us. To give life everlasting. Wow. Because of Him, we can have a perfect destiny. Not without trouble, discouragement, and worse, but with hope for heaven.

Today is my day to rise above the jabs and punches of the enemy of my soul. To contemplate the worthy destiny of my life, one ordinary woman trying to leave a legacy of devotion to Jesus Christ, to the plans of God for me, to obey the leadings of the Holy Spirit in order that in some way I can give honor and glory to the One who saved my soul.

Heavenly Father, I need your encouragement this day as always. Thank you for who you are. “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” Praise your Holy Name. Bless me with your divine insights to my destiny today that I may rise up and do battle for the kingdom. I love you, Lord. Be strong in me today, for apart from you I can do nothing. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
