Into the Fire

We writers do funny things with words. C’mon, admit it. You have your favorites, don’t you? And you can usually spot them in the books you read. I remember one author used the word “gloaming”, and, showing my ignorance here, I had to look it up. It was not a word I customarily used or heard used, the word being more poetically associated. There’ve been many others I’m sure you might remember if you thought about it, but I’m more interested in your pet words or phrases you can’t resist using in almost every piece you write.

I’ll be fair. I’ll give you one of mine: “feigned” in regard to an attitude of teasing someone. I love using that word.

Here’s another one of my quirks. Since I am NOT a Pepsi fan, the characters I like drink Coca Cola. Can’t help it. And more . . . I nearly always use Tully’s coffeeshops as opposed to Starbuck’s. There’s at least one Jaguar vehicle in my novels (most of them anyway).

Lord, thank you for your expansive creation. We are all the product of your immense design. I can’t imagine your hugeness. Too big. Too wonderful. Too unique. Too everything good and perfect.
